Massage Therapy

Carrie Dawn completed her 2200hr NB RMT training at ACTM in the Atlantic of Canada and transferred to BC RMT. She is an active member of The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) previously known as The College of Massage Therapist of BC (CMTBC).

The inspiration for Carrie Dawn’s career in massage began in 2002 when she received a Hot & Cold La Stone massage. The stones felt deeply comforting, like a cozy blanket wrapped around her shoulders and it was then she knew the stones would be in her personal and professional life.

She began training in this modality in 2003 and worked at health centers, spas and home occupation business. Over the years she continued taking more intensive training sessions such as the Original Body & Master Course at La Stone Therapy Inc with Mary Nelson (owner) and Cindy Baker ( teacher), Hot Stone Massage at The Assisi Institute with Darlene Ward, Stone Massage Therapy at Sassi Therapies of the Stone with Milena Mattei, Hot Stone Massage Theory and Practice at ACTM (NB RMT) at the University of New Brunswick, Level 1 & 2 Hot/Cold Therapeutic Stone Massage CEU accredited by CMTBC/CCHPBC with Julie Redlin BC RMT, and more. Carrie Dawn is currently becoming a teacher of Hot & Cold Stone Massage with Mary Nelson who developed this methodology in 1993 and has taught over 30,000 students. Mary has given her consent to copyright from her manuals and it is an honor for Carrie Dawn to have permission to Mary’s intellectual property. It is her goal is to bring Hot and Cold Stone Massage CEU/PDP to the Okanagan Valley.

Carrie Dawn is a strong proponent of taking preventative health measures. Preventative health means any action taken to keep people healthy and well, and prevent or avoid poor health, illness, injury and early death. Prevention aims to increase the likelihood that people will stay healthy and well for as long as possible. Regular massage can be an important and integral health prevention measure. Massage can help to mitigate many health issues that may arise such as emotional/mental stress, reduce anxiety levels, pain relief for chronic and acute injuries, reduce inflammation in muscles and soft tissue as well as improve sleep patterns.

Carrie Dawn is dedicated to providing safe, therapeutic, and highly effective Registered Massage Therapy to assist her patients to achieve optimal health and wellness. She incorporates deep presence and listening through her touch, to tune into your body’s current needs and responses as they arise. Every treatment is tailored to meet the individual’s needs and goals–whether that goal is to relieve pain or improve physical function, or alleviate stress. She will provide professional care throughout your wellness journey.

In her free time, Carrie Dawn and her husband lovingly raise her two daughters. She loves yoga and dancing, cooking and nutrition, walking her dogs, biking on the Rail Trail, stand up paddle boarding, mixed media art journaling, beaches & peaches and all the activities that the beautiful Okanagan has to offer.

What Can a Massage Therapist Help You With?

The primary goal of massage therapy is to address physical discomfort, tension, or stress experienced by the client. This can range from muscle soreness and stiffness to chronic pain conditions. Through skilled touch, massage therapists can help reduce muscle tension, increase blood flow, improve circulation, and enhance the body's natural healing processes.

Registered vs Non-Registered Massage Therapists:

A registered massage therapist (RMT) refers to a massage therapist who has taken a minimum of 2200 hours of education in an accredited program, has passed board exams administered by, and is in good standing with The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) previously known as The College of Massage Therapist of BC (CMTBC). This recognition allows these therapists to provide massage treatments that are recognized by health insurance companies. Every therapist must take continued education annually to maintain their license to practice.

Non-registered Massage Therapists are not members of The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) previously known as The College of Massage Therapist of BC (CMTBC) and therefore insurance companies will typically not re-imburse or pay for their treatments.
